SALES PHILOSOPHY

The breeding standard at Dreamcatcher Meadows is very clear. We produce Hanoverian and Hanoverian/Thoroughbred cross horses that are gifted athletes with an emphasis on kindness and trainability. Homebred pedigrees are examined for gymnastic ability, beauty and correct conformation, but both sire and dam must have a very high score (typically 9 or 10) for rideability to qualify for producing our offspring. All too often we see stunning animals for sale with extravagant paces, yet they are only suitable for a top professional to ride. The philosophy at Dreamcatcher Meadows is to produce a rider’s “best friend” that will result in a happy partnership both on and off the saddle – safe for an amateur but talented enough for top level competition if that is the rider’s goal. Foals that meet our strict criteria are registered with the suffix “DMV”.

At Dreamcatcher Meadows we are dedicated to ensuring that horses we offer for sale are matched with the ideal owner. Frequently we include in the sales contract price a period of time that includes the training of horse and new rider under our supervision. It is our passion and mandate to responsibly breed the best horses possible, but it is equally important to us that we hand them over to owners that have the training, temperament and resources to result in a happy, successful partnership.

It is important to keep in mind that as in many things, you get what you pay for. There is considerable expense involved to produce a live, healthy foal or training a ridden horse to the standard we are happy to put our name to. The handling and training by professionals in a purpose designed environment ensures that you are purchasing an animal with a good history. Foal prices typically start at $10,000 plus applicable tax (for part Hanoverians) to stallion prospects that have sold in the region of $50,000. Price increases in the region of $5-$10,000 with each additional year in age, training and competition. Youngstock are in a handling and training program from birth; even our weanlingh have a good basis in proper manners and human interaction. Most are shown in breed shows, debuting as yearlings, thus providing a background that includes experience in all matters associated with competition (loading, trailering, bathing, braiding, etc.). Ridden horses not bred by us undergo training to meet our standards before being offered for sale.

Our youngstock show record and breed society inspection results are proof that the industry’s respected top judges agree our breeding standards are first class. We are proud to have won many sport and breed classes in Canada, the United States and England. To date John Dingle is undefeated in 3 to 5 year old championships at FEI level. In 2011 he secured top honours: USDF Horse of the Year title for our homebred 3 year old Ballerina DMV; she was the top scoring of all 3 year olds in the United States with a median of over 85%! Of all 3, 4 and 5 year olds, all sexes, she was second only to a 5 year old stallion! See “News” for current and archived competition results.

We are delighted to offer the following for sale:

YOUNGSTOCK

The following youngsters are progeny from the FEI champion dressage mare Dreamcatcher (Hanoverian registered as elite status “Daisy Dee”). She has six offspring from our embryo transfer techniques, including the young stallion Dreammaster, rated as a serious dressage international prospect. Embryo transfer allowed her to rise through the levels from attaining 5 and 6 Year Old FEI Championships under Olympian Carl Hester in England to attaining the many FEI Inter 1 level accolades in 2010 (including USDF Regional Inter 1 Freestyle Reserve Champion). Dreamcatcher holds the distinction of being the first mare in North America to achieve AWS Five Star Status! AWS President, Kathy Wilson explains: “Our Five Star program is designed to identify and award outstanding horses. Each star recognizes a different accomplishment. Horses receive stars for their own performance at National and International competitions as well as their offspring results – difficult to complete due to these high demands”. This led to Dreamcatcher being named 2010 Dam of the Year, son Dreammaster 2010 Stallion of the Year and yearling daughter Lady of the Dance Young Horse of the year and the ultimate accolade – 2010 Horse of the Year.

Sire of several young stock is Hanoverian Lokomotion. Selected and imported to Canada from the German State Stud at Adleheidsdor by Dreamcatcher Meadows in 2007, this 300-day Performance Tested stallion has proved to be a most consistent sire. Lokomotion’s wins as FEI 5 and 6 Year Old FEI Championships under Dreamcatcher Meadows coach and trainer John Dingle were a testimony to the two years of careful training he received at our facility. Grand Prix rider Gary Brewster was impressed with this foundation training and worked with John to ultimately take Lokomotion to win the 6 year old Jump Canada competition. Lokomotion’s largely Holsteiner jumping pedigree (Lordanos/Landseiger) will hopefully bring further success in the jumping arena under Gary Brewster.

CLASS OF 2010

LORDSLEY.

2010 Hanoverian Chestnut Colt

Lokomotion x Dreaming.

Lordsley is aptly named with the regal carriage of his sculpted head and classic, correct
conformation. Eye-catching even white stockings on all legs accentuate his elastic gaits. Dreaming
(Dimaggio x Daisy Dee aka Dreamcatcher) one of our beloved foundation mares, always produces
a stunning foal and with Lordsley, she has outdone herself! Dimaggio’s 2002 World Breeding
Champion paces pass to his grandson, reinforced by the kind temperament and athleticism from the
mother Donnerhall line.

LEGENDARY.

2010 Hanoverian x Thoroughbred Bay Gelding

Lokomotion X Jannathxx

Elegance, refinement and a confident, kind nature sum up this Lokomotion son. Dr. Ludwig
Christmann stated at the 2010 annual Hanoverian inspection held at Dreamcatcher Meadows that
the cross of this “large framed” stallion with the refinement of thoroughbred blood “goes very well”
toward producing the ideal modern sport horse. Legendary is a good example of this combination
and will make an ideal amateur riding horse for either dressage or the hunter jumper ring.

LITIGATOR.

2010 Hanoverian x Thoroughbred Bay Colt

Lokomotion/ Delta Dearxx (Hann approved 2008)

Crossing the largely jumping based pedigree of Lokomotion with a striking, Jockey Club registered
and Hanoverian Main Studbook approved Thoroughbred, produced an exceptional bay colt. With
the temperament of a Labrador and the show presence of a rock star, this colt will never fail to
impress. On the advice of Dr. Christmann “Gator” will be raised as a licensed stallion candidate.
His classic refined head with a striking “exclamation mark” blaze is set correctly on a frame that is
textbook ideal as to conformation.

LIMOGES

2010 Hanoverian x Thoroughbred Bay Filly

Lokomotion x Silver Capitalist (Hann. Approved 2008)

The sole filly of the Class of 2010, Limoges has shown herself to be a unique individual in many ways.
Again the largely Holsteiner stallion is refined with the blood cross, producing a beautifully sculpted
face, large liquid eyes and perfectly formed ears, balanced by an arched neck set nicely on a superb
shoulder with back and hind end in all the right proportion. Limoges is exceptional in that her
temperament displays the reserve and sophistication her namesake implies, yet her paces ooze the
power and range breeders hope for. It takes no imagination to see her as an elegant lady’s dressage
mount, yet with her father jumping credentials, may prove to excel in that direction as well.
