RIDER TRAINING
Dreamcatcher Meadows Liability Waiver For Riders
Dreamcatcher Meadows adhere to classical dressage principles. After an in depth discussion with
each client to establish their personal goals and objectives, they design a tailor-made program
to make those goals realities. Emphasis is on long-term success and is quick to explain how each
lesson fits into the larger plan. The principles behind the exercises are readily explained, terms
are “demystified” and the art is made as simple to understand as possible. Only after confirming a
solid foundation in position and seat (usually assessed and improved by lunge lessons in the circular
indoor Lunge Arena) do sessions move on to the goal of harmonizing horse and rider at large in the
Coverall indoor or riverside outdoor arena. Raw beginners, both adult and children and experienced
riders will find their understanding and skill.
Students receive instant feedback for their appraisal of themselves by looking in the mirrors that
extend along the arena’s entire short side. Thus, the rider can follow the reflection of how they and
the horse are moving and immediately view the improvements achieved by applying the instructor’s
corrections. Video feedback is also available. Both mental and physical conditioning is improved by
enjoying the miles of riverside sandy trails that extend from the property.
Dreamcatcher Meadows will take you from first ride to your first competition, guiding you and
a four-legged friend every step of the way. The relaxed atmosphere, passion for the sport and
adherence to the Scale of Training guarantee you will find yourself learning whilst enjoying yourself!
Riders of all ages and stages are catered for. John is reknowned for his special skill with young riders
and
newcomers to the sport.
“John’s ability to connect with Gabi (age 7 and a new rider) is fantastic. He has a unique ability to break
down a series of complicated movements for both rider and horse into manageable pieces, while at the
same time providing Gabi with the reason why each piece is important and then, how to reassemble the
pieces into one movement. With Gabi the “why” has always been important and he picked up on that
right away. All that and he makes it fun! (John Novak, January 2011)
If top competitive sport is the rider’s goal, we can personally train individuals in our
areas
of expertise and / or recommend fellow coaches if a different expertise is required.
Young riders such as Elena
Westeinde (12) qualified for the FEI children’s
division at the 2010 Canada Youth Championship.
John's accomplishments in the Young Horse classes in Canada, training methods and
work with novice
riders are elaborated below.
